Our goal at exposed aggregate driveways is to be one of the most informative sites for Exposed Aggregate Concrete. So we have searched the net and tried to find a few of the best videos available on exposed aggregate and linked them here. Shown here are different examples of how to do exposed aggregate concrete.
The 1st Video is of a pool being concreted in exposed aggregate. The technique they are using is by concreting with a mix with special pebbles in it and also throwing a full coverage of pebbles on the surface and trowelling them in. This Process is called, "Seeding." Although seeding is sometimes done in Australia it is much more common in America, It is a way you can add specific surface highlight pebbles to change the effect. Notice that there is a Golden Sandstone Base Colour Oxide in the Concrete.

The Next Video is about an Exposed Aggregate Driveway being commenced to be washed off. Although some concreters mix up their own sugar solution, we prefer to use a sugar based retardent sold through leading concrete suppliers. We have found that it is more reliable and the danger with mixing your own sugar solution is that if the sugar isnt disolved evenly in the solution it can lead to patchy exposure. We know alot of concreters and I have only ever met 1 who chooses to mix his own sugar mix, everyone else uses the chemical retardant for its even-ness and reliability. Notice he is using a Garden Hose. As the conditions of each job such as the weather are different, we recommend a Water Pressure Washer ideally with adjustable Pressure so that you can tailor the pressure for how hard or soft the surface of the concrete is. Although the process is the same the level of pressure will make or break your job.
